[Sports Today reporter Kang Tae-gu] SEOUL — Woori Card WooriWON (owner Jin Seong-won) announced on April 11 that interim coach Park Cheol-woo has been named the club’s fifth head coach.
The club signed a three-year contract, and both sides agreed to keep the specific terms private.
Park joined Woori Card as a coach in April last year and worked closely with the players. He took over the team in January following former coach Paes and led a late surge, going 14-4 over the final 18 games to secure a postseason berth in what the club called a \”miracle run.\”
A team official praised Park for stepping into the interim role during a difficult stretch and guiding the squad successfully. The club said his elder-brother leadership style should maximize players’ strengths and help the team take the next step.
\”I’m honored to return to Woori Card — the club where I took my first steps as a coach — and to assume the head coach position,\” Park said. \”I sincerely thank the club for trusting me, and I’ll do everything I can to help Woori Card become a consistently strong team.\”
The club will hold a press conference to introduce Coach Park on the morning of April 16.
