[Sports Today reporter Kang Tae-gu] The KT Wiz held an early lead and snapped their skid.
KT beat the Doosan Bears 6-4 at Suwon KT Wiz Park on April 11 in a 2026 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League matchup.
The victory improved KT to 8-4 and kept them atop the standings. Doosan, unable to extend a three-game winning run, fell to 4-1-7 and remained in eighth place.
KT starter So Hyeong-jun delivered seven strong innings, allowing four hits, striking out seven, walking two and yielding two runs to pick up his first win of the season.
Offensively, Ahn Hyun-min fueled the attack with three hits in four at-bats, including a solo home run, two RBIs and a run scored.
Doosan starter Jack Log took the loss after six innings, giving up nine hits (one homer), striking out five, issuing no walks and allowing five runs (three earned).
KT struck first and opened the game up in the middle innings. In the bottom of the third, Huh Kyung-min singled and Lee Kang-min laid down a sacrifice. A throwing error by the third baseman put runners on second and third, and Bae Jeong-dae followed with a two-run single to left for the game’s first runs.
With no outs and a runner on first, back-to-back singles by Kim Hyun-soo and Ahn Hyun-min pushed the lead to 3-0.
Doosan struggled to solve So Hyeong-jun early. They were retired in order in the first, and in the second they managed a two-out single by Yang Seok-hwan before Oh Myung-jin struck out to end the inning.
Doosan failed to reach base in both the third and fourth innings.
KT extended the lead in the fourth. After two outs, Huh reached on a shortstop throwing error and stole a base to get into scoring position. Lee Kang-min followed with an RBI single to make it 4-0.
In the fifth, leadoff hitter Ahn Hyun-min launched a solo homer off Jack Log’s 132 km/h (82.0 mph) changeup over the left fielder’s head.
Doosan finally answered in the seventh. Park Jun-soon’s single and Yang Eui-ji’s double produced a one-out, runners-on-second-and-third situation; Yang Seok-hwan’s sacrifice fly to center and Park Chan-ho’s RBI double trimmed the deficit by two.
In the eighth, Jung Soo-bin’s single and Kim Min-seok’s double created another no-out, runners-on-second-and-third chance, and Ahn Jae-seok’s two-run hit pulled Doosan within 5-4.
KT put the game away in the bottom of the eighth. Kim Sang-su drew a walk and was replaced by pinch-runner Yoo Jun-gyu, who advanced to second. After Huh laid down a sacrifice bunt, Ryu Hyun-in’s RBI grounder to second pushed the lead back to 6-4.
With the lead in hand, KT turned to closer Park Young-hyun in the ninth. Park retired the side in order to seal the win.
