[Sports Today reporter Im Si-ryeong] Singer Hwasa (HWASA) has stepped in to support singer-songwriter Ahn Shin-ae as she prepares for an upcoming concert.
On April 8, Ahn posted a short clip to her YouTube channel showing a brief exchange between her and Hwasa.
In the video, Ahn takes the role of interviewer while Hwasa appears as the guest.
Ahn begins by announcing that she’s putting on a concert and is taking song requests. Hwasa responded that her first pick would be \”Mokpo’s Tears,\” noting that there’s a sorrowful longing in Ahn’s voice that “tears at my heart.” She added that among Ahn’s self-penned songs she especially loves \”Hollo\” (\”Alone\”), which has given her a lot of comfort.
When Ahn asked if Hwasa had any advice for her as a concert veteran, Hwasa said the moments she finds most striking are when Ahn centers herself and simply sings while playing guitar. “You should feel free to show that side of yourself,” Hwasa advised.
Hwasa also thanked fans planning to attend the shows and Ahn’s fanbase, known as the Sundubu, for recognizing her music and showing up in person. Speaking as someone who has found real solace in Ahn’s songs, Hwasa said she hopes fans will enjoy Ahn’s warm, gentle tone and leave feeling uplifted.
Ahn Shin-ae will launch an intimate theater concert titled SCENE A at Yeonnam Space in Yeonnam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, beginning April 25.
The run kicks off with performances on April 25 and 26 and continues across four weeks through May 16 and 17. Shows take place each Saturday at 5 p.m. and Sunday at 4 p.m., for a total of eight performances.
SCENE A is a small-theater concert built on just two elements: guitar and voice. Rather than relying on elaborate production, the show is designed to focus on the pure resonance of Ahn’s music.
Ahn debuted in 2014 as a member of the group The Barberettes. In September 2023 she signed with P NATION and released her first solo single, \”Respect.\”
Hwasa, who has cemented her status as a solo star with the mega-hit \”Good Goodbye,\” released a new single, \”So Cute,\” on the 9th and is once again generating buzz.
