On the 8th, WEGO — the casual-label operated by Onward Holdings — announced it will begin opening stores in Taiwan starting this May. The first outpost will launch at the Wuchang branch of the Seongpum Saenghwal shopping complex in Taipei’s Wanhua district. The brand aims to operate about 20 stores by 2030.
It also plans to open flagship stores in downtown Taipei and in Shanghai before the end of the year.
WEGO said Taiwanese shoppers’ strong interest in Japan-origin fashion and culture has made the brand highly recognizable there, with awareness spreading rapidly through social platforms. Drawing on its streetwise, youth-driven cultural curation rooted in Japanese street fashion, WEGO plans to prioritize physical-store expansion across Taiwan.
The Shanghai flagship is planned as an experience-focused store designed to accelerate the brand’s online-business growth.
Founded in 1994, WEGO now operates roughly 180 stores across Japan.
