A man in his 70s who attacked a real estate agent with a knife over a disputed balance was arrested at the scene.
On the 10th, the Daejeon Western Police Station said it is investigating the man, identified only as A, on suspicion of attempted murder.
Police say A allegedly stabbed B, a man in his 60s who runs a real estate agency in Byeondong, Seo-gu, Daejeon. The attack took place inside the agency and on a nearby street at about 3:33 p.m. on the 9th, when A stabbed B multiple times in an apparent attempt to kill him.
Officers arrested A at the scene after a passerby reported the attack.
B suffered wounds to his face and neck and was taken to a hospital; authorities say he is not in life-threatening condition.
In questioning, A told police he had long been in dispute with B over a real estate contract they signed about five years earlier, claiming he never received the final payment.
Investigators said A had visited B several times before. A has admitted to the attack but denies it was premeditated and says he did not intend to kill B.
Police, however, noted that A had prepared the weapon in advance and had similar prior conflicts with B, which they say indicates premeditation. They plan to seek an arrest warrant to detain him.
