2026 Local Travel Agency Recruitment: Unlocking New Opportunities for Tourists in Asia
Daniel Kim Views

The Hwasun County Culture and Tourism Foundation is looking for dedicated travel agencies to design and distribute local tour packages as part of a push to bring more visitors to the area.
On the 9th, the foundation announced a call for local travel agencies to lead its 2026 local travel program. The goal is simple: turn the county’s tourism assets into marketable products and make them easier to book by blending online and offline distribution.
Eligible applicants must be registered under the Tourism Promotion Act as general travel agencies or as domestic/international tour operators. Agencies based in the region will receive bonus points to encourage stronger ties with local businesses and communities.
Separate tracks for group and solo travelers — with incentives
The program offers two distinct tracks: group tours and individual/free independent travel (FIT). Selected agencies can pick the type of support they want. The foundation will subsidize bus charters and offer performance-based incentives tied to visitor numbers. Funding levels will differ for day trips versus overnight stays.
Proposals will be evaluated on product appeal, practicality, and plans for local collaboration. Applications are open from April 6 through April 20, and results will be posted on the foundation’s website.
With this initiative, the foundation aims to expand tourism offerings by tapping private-sector creativity while also modernizing how those products are distributed.
