Hyundai is expanding its in‑vehicle infotainment by introducing display themes based on popular Korean characters.

The new themes — Pororo, Tayo and Janmang Loopy — mark Hyundai’s first collaborations with homegrown characters.

Automakers are increasingly treating cars as content platforms, and that is reshaping what a vehicle experience can mean.

Whole-Vehicle UX Changes

Applied display themes alter the vehicle’s entire UX: characters show up in startup animations, instrument clusters and the navigation interface.

It’s more than swapping a background — story elements are woven across the full vehicle interface.

The approach emphasizes emotion-driven experiences and allows Hyundai to target families and younger buyers alike.

From Pokémon to Domestic Characters…

Bolstering a Content-First Strategy

Hyundai previously rolled out a Pokémon theme and received positive feedback from customers.

It has now expanded into domestic characters to broaden its content offerings.

Drivers can purchase themes through the MyHyundai app and the BlueLink store.

Paid in‑vehicle content models are taking root, and Hyundai expects them to expand its software-based revenue streams.

Hyundai is applying these themes to key models including the Ioniq 6, Sonata and Nexo.

The themes will roll out to vehicles equipped with ccNC infotainment, and Hyundai can deploy them via over-the-air updates.

The move reflects a broader shift from hardware-centric cars to software-centered platforms.

As a result, Hyundai is evolving beyond transportation into an experience platform.
