[iNews24 reporter Park Jong-su] Jinan Red Ginseng Spa, the flagship healing tourism facility in Jinan County, North Jeolla Province, has been reselected by the Korea Tourism Organization as one of the \”88 Best Wellness Destinations.\”
The Korea Tourism Organization praised the spa’s distinctive healing-tourism offerings and its mid-to-long-term strategy to attract international visitors. Officials say the designation should further cement Jinan County’s reputation as a leading ecological health-and-healing city in South Korea.

To keep up with evolving travel trends, Jinan Red Ginseng Spa is undergoing a full renovation and plans to reopen this summer.
The new concept moves beyond a static, sauna-focused facility to become an experiential wellness destination designed for all ages to enjoy together.
The centerpiece of the redesign is a dramatic, oversized red-ginseng bath with sweeping views of Maisan and an outdoor infinity pool.
On the rooftop, the spa will debut an \”interactive sauna\” featuring programming like sauna running crews, guided Maisan hikes, and nighttime dance-music sessions—fresh offerings aimed at drawing younger visitors.
Food and drink get a wellness twist: a drink bar will serve red-ginseng makgeolli (Korean rice wine) and red-ginseng whiskey, while a sweet pavilion will offer red-ginseng ice cream and other treats.
On the spa’s first floor, a curated \”Jinan Local Products Showroom\” will showcase regional specialties and encourage shoppers to take home local goods. An adjacent wellness café will combine private relaxation nooks with hands-on local product experiences to promote longer stays and higher spending.
Wellness programming will expand with hands-on offerings such as deep-heat detox therapy using gemstones and herbs, workshops to make red-ginseng relief balm, DIY red-ginseng tea sessions, and classes on making red-ginseng yokan and jeonggwa (traditional Korean confections).
The spa will also boost its capacity for international guests by staffing multilingual specialists and installing multilingual kiosks and signage.
A Jinan County official said the re-selection reaffirms the spa’s competitiveness and growth potential and pledged to make the renovated Jinan Red Ginseng Spa a symbolic centerpiece of the county’s ecological health-and-healing vision.
The official added that ongoing content innovation will help build a stay-focused tourism ecosystem that encourages repeat visits and revitalizes the local economy.
