Toyota’s electric sedan bZ7 ignited a buying frenzy in China, logging more than 3,000 orders within an hour of its launch.
It reached 7,000 units sold within three weeks, underscoring a very strong initial market reaction.
That performance is notable in China’s highly competitive EV market and suggests a meaningful shift in Toyota’s electric-vehicle strategy.

The bZ7’s base price is about 147,800 yuan (roughly $21,475), which is around 32 million KRW (≈ $24,000). For a full-size electric sedan, that pricing is highly competitive.
With an overall length of 5,130 mm (about 201.9 inches) and a 3,020 mm (118.9-inch) wheelbase, the bZ7 offers class-leading interior space—its wheelbase even exceeds that of the Hyundai Grandeur.
The interior is fitted with a 15.6-inch central display and an unusually large 27-inch head-up display. “Zero-gravity” seats and a refrigerated compartment are also standard, delivering near-premium comfort and convenience.

Toyota developed the bZ7 in collaboration with Chinese tech firms. The car runs on Huawei’s HarmonyOS 5.0 and integrates with Xiaomi’s smart-home ecosystem.
Owners can control home devices from the vehicle, blurring the line between car and living environment.
On the safety front, the bZ7 features a LiDAR-based advanced driver-assistance system with roughly 50 safety and convenience functions, including urban and highway driving assist — a major enhancement to its technical credentials.
Up to 700 km Range
Positioned as a Strategic Model

Toyota says the bZ7 can travel up to 700 km (about 435 miles) on a single charge, with 71 kWh and 88 kWh battery options. A 10-minute charge is claimed to add roughly 300 km (about 186 miles) of range.
Those figures combine fast-charging efficiency with real-world usability. The model also uses a dual-chamber air suspension to enhance ride comfort and cabin quietness.
Toyota has not announced global launch plans. Still, the bZ7 signals a change in the company’s EV approach, and observers are watching whether Toyota will expand the model beyond China, including markets such as South Korea.
