The Blue House said on the 1st that, after receiving a briefing on trash-bag supplies at the emergency economic review meeting, President Lee Jae-myung instructed the Minister of Climate, Energy and Environment not to impose purchase limits and to coordinate regional adjustments.
Kang Yoo-jung, senior Blue House spokesperson, conveyed this in a written briefing.
The president also ordered authorities to secure passage for 26 vessels in the Strait of Hormuz and, if shipping companies request it, to arrange the transport of crude oil via the Red Sea and report back on the results.
Referring to his Cabinet meeting remark the previous day that emergency fiscal orders could be used if necessary, he instructed officials to take firm action against anyone who turns that message into fake news—such as claims about forced dollar sales—saying such misinformation is highly damaging during a national crisis.
Meanwhile, on X (formerly Twitter), the president attached a news article reporting that Planning Office staff had worked intensively to draft the supplementary budget and wrote: \”You worked incredibly hard. Because the situation was so urgent, I ordered an accelerated preparation of the supplementary budget, and you carried it out admirably—even to the point of nosebleeds. I will make sure you are compensated for the blood you shed. If you need anything, tell Minister Park Hong-geun. I’m sorry, thank you, and I love you.\”
