[iNews24 reporter Ahn Young-rok] Cheongju City in North Chungcheong Province announced on March 29 that it will strengthen safety measures from April 1 through April 12 along a 3.1 km (about 1.93 mi) stretch of Musimdong-ro and Musimseo-ro, from Namsagyo to the First Uncheon Bridge.
During that period, roughly 2,500 people will take part in safety operations, including members of nine volunteer organizations — the Cheongju Regional Autonomous Disaster Corps, Cheongju Emergency Rescue Civil Defense Corps, the Red Cross Volunteer Society, the Cheongju chapter of the Marine Corps Veterans Association, the Cheongju chapter of the Special Forces Veterans Association, the autonomous neighborhood watch alliances from the four districts — as well as the Cheongju Volunteer Center and municipal officials.

Safety personnel will direct vehicular and pedestrian traffic, maintain order, provide emergency medical support, and oversee overall on-site safety management.
The city said it will increase on-site patrols to prevent crowding-related incidents and conduct focused CCTV monitoring to identify and eliminate hazards in advance.
Lee Gi-ho, head of Cheongju City’s Safety Inspection and Audit Team, said, “We expect many residents and visitors to come to Musimcheon during the cherry blossom season. We will do our utmost to manage on-site safety so people can enjoy the blossom-lined paths with peace of mind.”
