Chef Park Hyo-nam, who grabbed attention on Netflix’s cooking competition Black & White Chef: Culinary Class War 2, shared a fun story about flying to the U.K. for a whirlwind one-night, two-day trip just to catch Son Heung-min’s match.
In episode 0 of Cooking Grandpas, recently posted on Studio Slam’s YouTube, the chefs gathered before their trip and chatted about how they like to travel.
Park said, \”Travel means freedom,\” and made it clear he prefers unplanned adventures. He usually travels solo, goes with the flow, and once flew to the U.K. for a one-night trip solely to watch Son play. He also described himself as an active traveler and a Gangwon FC fan who has even biked to Chuncheon’s stadium to watch a match.
Chef Hoo Deok-juk admitted that a hectic schedule over the past five years kept him from traveling much. When he does get away, he prefers family outings focused on great restaurants, shopping, and exploring local markets.
Chef Kim Do-yoon said he plans trips around ingredients. Drawing on a year he spent in Taiwan, he loves seeking out regional produce and sourcing ingredients directly from each locale.
Chef Yoon Nam-no emphasized that his travels are all about food — he picks restaurants over tourist spots every time.
Episode 1 of Cooking Grandpas, which follows the Taiwan trip of Chefs Hoo Deok-juk, Park Hyo-nam, Kim Do-yoon, and Yoon Nam-no — all of whom appeared on Black & White Chef 1 and 2 — will be released on the 4th at 12:30 p.m.
