[Sports Today reporter Jeong Ye-won] On KBS2’s Immortal Songs, Song Il-gook drew attention after revealing an unexpected connection to Jo Hye-ryeon.
The 749th episode of KBS2’s Immortal Songs, airing March 28, serves as Part 1 of “Immortal Songs — 2026 Entertainment King of Singers.” The episode assembles vocal powerhouses from across the entertainment world who have officially released albums or singles, promising a series of standout performances. The roster—Kim Shin-young & Chun Dan-bi, LalaL, Moon Se-yoon, the Gag Concert “Chatflix” team, Park Jun-hyung, Song Il-gook & Oh Man-seok (the musical The Hague team), Lee Chan-seok, Lee Hwi-jae (returning after four years), Jo Hye-ryeon, and Hong Seok-cheon—spans comedians, actors and creators, totaling 10 acts and generating considerable buzz.
In the green room, Song Il-gook found himself waging a private battle. Hong Seok-cheon and Jo Hye-ryeon sat to his right, with LalaL and the Gag Concert “Chatflix” crew to his left. Planted in the middle of that tightly packed, high-energy cluster of entertainers, Song visibly paled as he struggled with a level of talk-show banter that feels outside his usual orbit. He quipped that he only came out to do narration during Oh Man-seok’s song and joked he might be sitting in the wrong spot, drawing laughs.
Moments later, Jo Hye-ryeon’s “Bananarala” dance challenge — a viral hit among Gen Z and millennial idols — kicked off and amped up the atmosphere. Amid the excitement, Song revealed a surprising personal tie: “Hye-ryeon was my acting teacher when I was a complete rookie. Do you remember?” he asked, prompting startled reactions.
“Immortal Songs — 2026 Entertainment King of Singers” runs over two weeks, beginning with Part 1 on March 28 and continuing through April 4. Known for producing moments viewers want to replay, Immortal Songs airs every Saturday at 6:05 p.m.
