[Sports Today reporter Yoon Hye-young] Thai teen newcomer Pui is set to make her debut as an OST vocalist.
Pui, who emerged from stiff competition in Thailand and is currently training in Korea, contributed a song to the OST of KBS1’s daily drama Mari and the Unusual Dads. She released the single “Almost Spring” on the 24th, ahead of an official debut.
Pui’s pure, understated vocal tone delivers a gentle, heartfelt performance that evokes the arrival of spring. Lines like “Maybe spring has found me / Frozen through the long cold winter” capture the sense of a heart thawing after a long, cold season.
Her lyrical, unadorned voice pairs with warm lyrics and buoyant acoustic guitar to create an acoustic-pop track that fits the moment as winter’s chill begins to lift.
The song is presented as an easy-listening piece co-produced by composers Go Byung-sik, Buzzerbiter, and Lee Hyeong-seong, who have worked with Thai artists such as (G)I-DLE’s Minnie, as well as rising Thai acts Tira and Rina.
Pui, 15, from Bangkok, said, “Owning my own song has always been my dream. Since this is my first experience, it feels even more special, exciting, and joyful.” She added, “I’ll work hard in training so that when I officially debut I can bring happiness to many people.”
The drama Mari and the Unusual Dads, which follows the formation of an unconventional family, a bond deeper than blood, and Mari’s search for her father, is scheduled to wrap its 120-episode run on the 27th.
