[Sports Today reporter Song Oh-jung] Japan-born broadcaster Sayuri, who works in Korea, publicly voiced her support for Lee Hwi-jae’s return to television.
On the 23rd, Sayuri shared a screenshot of a comment she left on a post on her social media. The post covered news of Lee Hwi-jae’s comeback after a four-year absence.
In her comment, Sayuri wrote, “The older brother I know is warm and considerate, looks after the cast, and is never arrogant—like an approachable neighborhood brother.”
She added that it pains her to see people who haven’t met him claiming to know everything about his character, and urged readers to show their support for Lee Hwi-jae.
Comedian Yoon Hyung-bin also weighed in, writing that while he may not know everything, the senior he’s always seen has been a genuinely good person. “The senior I met, both in private and on air, was truly a good man. Please support him,” he wrote.
Meanwhile, Lee Hwi-jae is set to return to broadcast on the 28th of this month on KBS2’s Immortal Songs: 2026 Entertainer King Contest. A preview clip showing him in tears drew attention.
