[Sports Today reporter Lim Si-ryeong] TV personality Lee Hwi-jae made an emotional return to the public eye on KBS2’s Immortal Songs after a four-year absence, breaking down in tears.
On the 21st broadcast of KBS2’s Immortal Songs, the program ran a teaser for next week’s \”2026 Entertainment King of Kings\” special.
In the preview, Lee steps onto the stage and greets the audience, saying, \”It’s been a while. Nice to see you. I’m Lee Hwi-jae.\”
He was visibly moved, his eyes welling with tears.
Lee rose to prominence as a host on several major network variety shows, including \”Challenge 1000 Songs,\” \”Sponge,\” \”Imagination Plus,\” and \”The Return of Superman.\” He later faced criticism over his on-air conduct and was embroiled in neighbor noise disputes. He stepped down from \”Year-Round Live\” in April 2022 and subsequently suspended his broadcasting activities.
Ahead of his comeback on Immortal Songs after four years, Lee recently took part in a recording session and was reportedly overcome with emotion while performing Choi Ho-seop’s \”If Time Goes By.\”
