Fam tour links the international conference district with new industries and cultural attractions
Officials are targeting the global tourism market to give the local economy a boost

Suwon Special City announced on the 22nd that it kicked off a tailored fam tour for major travel agents from China’s three northeastern provinces — Liaoning, Jilin and Heilongjiang. The goal was to showcase Suwon’s new-industry innovations and cultural offerings to attract international visitors.
Organized by the Korea Tourism Organization, the joint fam tour — aimed at developing Korea travel products tied to those provinces’ emerging industries — ran from March 17–21. Over four nights and five days, participants visited Seoul, Gangwon and southern Gyeonggi; roughly 20 representatives from leading Chinese travel agencies took part.
Suwon highlighted its major tourism and industry spots — including the Suwon Convention Center, the MICE hub for southern Gyeonggi, Flying Suwon, the Samsung Innovation Museum and Starfield Suwon — pitching itself as a hybrid tourism city where history, culture and industry meet.
With Suwon’s 2026–2027 “Visit Suwon” campaign on the horizon, officials also showcased the city’s three flagship festivals and other attractions, confirming these can be packaged into attractive travel products.
The city says it will use the fam tour as a springboard to deepen partnerships with travel operators in China’s three northeastern provinces and to broaden its base for attracting overseas tourists, leveraging Suwon’s unique urban strengths.
