A bizarre delivery mix-up — a sashimi rice bowl ordered through a delivery app arrived with the sashimi missing and only a sea squirt on top — has gone viral online.
A post titled “Baemin sashimi rice bowl order disaster” recently appeared on an online forum.

The poster, identified as A, ordered a sashimi rice bowl priced at 16,000 KRW (about $12) and paid an extra 4,000 KRW (about $3) to add sea squirt. When A opened the delivery, there was no sashimi — just a single sea squirt sitting on top.
When A contacted the restaurant, they offered an even more baffling explanation: “If you add sea squirt, we remove the sashimi and put sea squirt on instead.”
A customer service agent for the delivery app reportedly confirmed that the added item replaces the sashimi and said a re-delivery wasn’t possible.
A responded, “I naturally assumed the sea squirt would be added to the standard sashimi bowl,” and complained, “This looks like a 20,000 KRW (about $15) presentation.”
Readers slammed the restaurant’s explanation. Comments included: “So if you add rice to ramen, they’ll remove the ramen and give you only rice?”; “If I uncheck ‘add,’ will they take all the sashimi out?”; and “That’s substitution, not addition — don’t they know what ‘add’ means?”
