Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party presidential candidate turned heads when the sneakers he wore on the first day of campaigning briefly sold out.

On the 12th, at a kickoff rally held at Gwanghwamun Cheonggye Square in Seoul, the candidate ditched dress shoes for a blue-and-red pair of sneakers for his first campaign appearance.
The sides of the shoes were stamped with the slogans \”Now, Lee Jae-myung\” and \”From now on, a real South Korea.\”
The sneakers were identified as Reebok’s 2022 Classic Leather GY1522 model.

Reebok’s official online store listed the retail price at 89,000 KRW (about $67), and the pair was being offered at a 60% discount for 35,600 KRW (about $27). The lowest available price hovered in the 30,000 KRW range (about $23), while other retailers were asking roughly 50,000 KRW (about $38).
Reebok’s official store now shows the model as sold out, and major online retailers like Musinsa have also run out of stock.
Some resellers have started listing the sneakers at steep markups. For example, Auction currently offers the pair for 339,300 KRW (about $254), more than ten times the previous lowest price.
