This Valentine’s Day, local jazz enthusiasts are in for a treat as an authentic jazz performance comes to town.
On February 14, Jeonju’s The Vine Hall will host the ‘2026 VALENTINE’S SPECIAL – The Great American Songbook’ concert, featuring acclaimed Japanese jazz pianist Yuki Futami and celebrated Korean jazz vocalist Kim Joo-hwan.
The Yuki Futami Trio’s visit to Korea promises a journey through the heart of jazz standards, showcasing ‘The Great American Songbook.’ Audiences can expect timeless classics from jazz giants like Duke Ellington, George Gershwin, Harold Arlen, Jerome Kern, Richard Rodgers, and Cole Porter, as well as beloved tunes from the legendary Oscar Peterson. The piano trio’s rendition of these jazz standards will offer a refined and intimate experience, capturing the essence of jazz’s golden era.

Yuki Futami, the evening’s headliner, is hailed in Japan’s jazz circles for her authentic pianism. Known for channeling Oscar Peterson’s iconic swing, Futami’s style emphasizes solid rhythm and nuanced touch over flashy techniques. Her early career triumphs at the Yokohama Jazz Competition and Asakusa Jazz Contest set the stage for her continued success across Asian jazz venues.
Joining the bill is Kim Joo-hwan, The Vine Hall’s own representative and Korea’s answer to Tony Bennett. Kim’s rich interpretations and smooth vocals have earned him a unique spot in Korea’s jazz landscape. His artistry has been recognized with four nominations for Best Jazz Album at the Korean Music Awards (KMA) in 2015, 2022, 2023, and 2025, underscoring both his musical prowess and enduring appeal.
The collaboration between the Yuki Futami Trio and Kim Joo-hwan promises to be a highlight, blending the lyrical depth of jazz standards with irresistible swing. This fusion of piano trio and vocals aims to bring ‘The Great American Songbook’ to life, marrying its timeless charm with the romantic ambiance of Valentine’s Day.
A spokesperson for Jeonju The Vine Hall shared, “This Valentine’s Day, we’re offering a sophisticated evening of authentic jazz that combines masterful instrumentals with soulful vocals. It’s not just for jazz aficionados – anyone looking to experience the magic of live music will find something special here.”
In honor of The Vine Hall’s 5th anniversary, concertgoers can take advantage of special discounted tickets. Reservations are available through The Vine Hall’s KakaoTalk channel, with full event details accessible on their official platforms.
