Former Japanese adult film actress Kaneko Mihiro, 43, who now runs a popular YouTube travel channel focused on South Korea, has made waves by revealing the intimate details behind her divorce.
Mihiro opened up about her marital journey and subsequent split during a recent episode of TV Asahi’s confessional variety show “The Hell I Most Want to Confess,” which aired on January 29.
The YouTuber, who announced her separation from stuntman Shimokawa Shinya in 2021 after three years of marriage, shared, “When we tied the knot, I was eager to start a family, so we dove headfirst into trying for a baby.” However, she noted that their efforts to conceive gradually became more clinical than romantic.
“Our relationship evolved from expressions of love to a mechanical ‘job’ focused solely on making a baby,” Mihiro confessed. “Even our intimate moments felt like a business transaction, which was incredibly draining.”
She continued, “The joy completely vanished from our relationship, and my ex-husband felt the same way.” Mihiro added that the pressure to create the right mood for conception took its toll on both of them, ultimately leading to conversations about ending their marriage as they both became emotionally exhausted.
Mihiro, who rose to fame as an adult film star in the 2000s, retired from the industry in 2010 to pursue a career in mainstream entertainment. A frequent visitor to South Korea, she has been running a successful travel and lifestyle vlog on YouTube catering to Korean audiences for several years.
