Her husband pleaded for leniency, taking responsibility for the situation.
On February 10, the Daegu District Court’s Criminal Division 11, presided over by Chief Judge Lee Young-cheol, handed down a three-year prison sentence, suspended for five years, to Ms. A (44) for attempted murder and related charges.
The court explained its decision, stating, “We took into account that the crime was impulsive rather than premeditated, the victims expressed their wish not to pursue punishment, and the husband requested clemency in court while acknowledging his own culpability.”
Ms. A was charged with attempting to kill her husband, Mr. B (40), by striking him on the head with a blunt object on January 17. She also faced charges for assaulting Ms. C (49).
Investigations uncovered that Ms. A had been aware of the affair between her husband and Ms. C for several years. She had repeatedly demanded they end their relationship, but as the affair continued, her frustration and anger intensified.
On the day of the incident, her intoxicated husband expressed a desire for a threesome, which led to Ms. C’s presence at their residence.
Ms. A had been suffering from emotional distress, including depression and lethargy, due to the ongoing conflict over her husband’s infidelity. On the day of the incident, she acted impulsively when confronted with both her husband and Ms. C while under the influence of alcohol.
