The kidnapping case of Nancy Guthrie, mother of NBC’s “Today” show anchor Savannah Guthrie, has taken a distressing turn as the family appeals for public assistance.
On February 9, Savannah Guthrie shared a video on social media, revealing the family’s desperate situation in their search for her missing mother. “We believe she’s still alive,” Guthrie stated, her voice filled with emotion. “My mother has been abducted, and we don’t know where she is. We urgently need your help.” She implored viewers, “No matter where you are, even if it’s far from Tucson, if you see or hear anything, please reach out to us.”
Nancy Guthrie, 84, vanished from her Tucson, Arizona home on the evening of January 31. Alarm bells rang when she missed her regular Sunday church service, leading to a missing person report filed around noon the next day.
Local law enforcement strongly suspects Nancy was kidnapped from her residence. Security cameras at her front door mysteriously stopped working in the early hours of February 1, and investigators discovered blood on the front porch, later confirmed to be Nancy’s.
The FBI has joined forces with Tucson authorities in the investigation, offering a substantial $50,000 (approximately 73 million KRW) reward for any information leading to a breakthrough in the case.
In a video released on February 7, Savannah Guthrie revealed that the family is prepared to pay a ransom for her mother’s safe return.
