Michelin announced on February 10 that it will supply original equipment (OE) tires for Hyundai Motor’s hydrogen fuel cell truck, the New Xcient, destined for the European market.
Beginning this year, Hyundai’s New Xcient hydrogen fuel cell trucks exported to Europe will be equipped with Michelin’s X Line Energy tires as standard.
The X Line Energy tire is engineered for long-haul transport, offering superior efficiency, fuel economy, and durability. Featuring a compound that delivers exceptionally low rolling resistance and advanced casing technology, these tires achieve Europe’s top A-grade for rolling resistance. This design minimizes energy loss during operation, substantially improving fuel efficiency for commercial vehicles.
Consequently, these tires not only cut fuel costs but also provide environmental benefits through reduced carbon emissions. Moreover, the tires incorporate cutting-edge technologies, including a robust structure and self-regenerating tread patterns, contributing to extended service life and enhanced driving safety.
Michel, CEO of Michelin Korea, commented, “Supplying tires for Hyundai Motor’s cutting-edge hydrogen fuel cell truck, a global leader in hydrogen technology, marks a significant milestone for Michelin. We are committed to offering solutions and services that meet the industry’s evolving needs, delivering exceptional performance, energy efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and environmental sustainability, all while keeping pace with the rapid technological advancements in the commercial vehicle sector.”
