[Cosmopolitan] Domino’s Pizza Korea has crowned the fastest pizza maker in the Asia-Pacific region, setting a new standard for speedy pie creation.
On March 10th, Domino’s Pizza Korea announced that Chae-rin Kwon, deputy manager of the Ulsan Samsan branch, clinched first place at the Asia-Pacific FPM (Fastest Pizza Maker) competition.
Kwon, who previously won the domestic FPM competition last December, wowed judges by whipping up three pizzas in a mere 60 seconds at the Asia-Pacific event. This lightning-fast performance shattered the previous domestic record of 1 minute and 34 seconds by an impressive 35%.
The competition drew representatives from 12 countries across the Asia-Pacific region. As the champion, Kwon has earned a coveted spot to compete in the ‘World’s Fastest Pizza Maker (WFPM)’ showdown in Las Vegas this May.
For context, the current world record, set by the 2024 champion, stands at a mind-blowing 39 seconds for three pizzas.
The FPM competition, a Domino’s Pizza tradition since 1982, puts contestants’ pizza-making speed and precision to the ultimate test. Participants race to create the perfect pepperoni, mushroom, and cheese pizzas, with the fastest and most skilled maker crowned the world’s best.
Domino’s Pizza invests in its top talent, offering overseas training programs for outstanding managers and the chance to experience the excitement of the biennial world competition in Las Vegas.
A Domino’s Pizza spokesperson gushed, “We’re thrilled to congratulate Chae-rin Kwon on her Asia-Pacific victory. We can’t wait to see her showcase Domino’s Pizza Korea’s world-class skills at the global competition!”
