Keimyung University’s Fashion Marketing Department, under President Shin Il-hee’s leadership, recently hosted an exciting international event. From March 3rd to 6th, the Kobe Fashion Museum was abuzz with the ‘RISE 3-3 Global Fashion Marketing & Fashion Tech Talent Development Project’. This forum brought together participating universities to exchange achievements and discuss overseas strategic business opportunities.

The cities of Daegu and Kobe joined forces to support this event, aiming to boost the global competitiveness of their local textile and fashion industries.

The ‘RISE 3-3 Achievement Showcase’ was a who’s who of Daegu’s fashion scene. Keimyung University led the pack, joined by Keimyung College University, Yeungnam University College, Yeungjin University, and Korea Polytechnic University, among others.

Visitors were treated to a dazzling array of student projects and industry collaborations. The exhibition floor was a testament to the creative synergy between academia and local textile and fashion businesses.

The event was a melting pot of talent, with 55 students and 11 companies from the D-FIACA Industry-Academic Council and specialized market entry projects. Together, they painted a vivid picture of regional collaboration on an international canvas.

On March 4th, the Kobe Fashion Museum’s seminar room was the stage for the ‘Overseas Business Forum – Fashion Tech Seminar’. Attendees got the inside scoop on cutting-edge fashion tech in Japan and the latest global fashion market trends.

Professor Noriaki Kuwahara from Kyoto Institute of Technology (KIT) kicked things off with a deep dive into fashion tech adoption in Japan’s fashion industry.

Following up, KIT’s Professor Choi Dong-eun offered insights into the shifting landscape of global fashion and what’s on the horizon for Japan’s fashion sector.

The day wrapped up with a lively roundtable featuring Japanese experts and Korean business leaders.

Jae-won Byun, a junior fashion marketing student at Keimyung University, couldn’t contain her excitement: “Presenting our classroom theories and project outcomes on an international stage was incredible. It really helped me visualize my future career path, especially after experiencing Japan’s fashion market and consumer trends firsthand.”

Professor Moon-young Kim from the Fashion Marketing Department chimed in, “This event wasn’t just about showing off our achievements. It was a real-world opportunity for our local universities and industries to strategize about global expansion. For our students, it’s a launchpad to becoming the next generation of global fashion marketers through hands-on international experience.”

Keimyung University’s Fashion Marketing Department continues to lead the charge in the RISE project’s fashion industry segment. They’re doubling down on nurturing global fashion marketing and tech talent, partnering with local universities, research hubs, and businesses to make it happen.
