On June 10th, Democratic Party lawmakers Park Chan-dae and Park Joo-min, both contenders in the upcoming June 3 local elections, will host separate book launch events.

Park Chan-dae will unveil his book “Black Snowflakes” at 3 PM in the National Assembly Library auditorium.

The book reportedly offers an insider’s view of the martial law lifting process, drawing from Park’s experiences as floor leader during the December 3 state of emergency. Park is a key ally of Lee Jae-myung, having formed a leadership duo with the former party chief.

At a recent dinner on the 5th with President Lee Jae-myung, Park Chan-dae hinted at his political ambitions with the ambiguous statement, “I will run.” Speculation is rife that he may formally announce his bid for Incheon mayor at today’s book launch.

Later at 7 PM, Park Joo-min, who has already declared his candidacy for Seoul mayor, will host a book event titled “Politics Changes Cities.”

Park Joo-min’s team describes the event as more than just a book launch; it’s an opportunity to share the book’s core ideas and vision with the public. Last December, he announced his plan to transform Seoul into a “Basic Special City, Opportunity Special City,” becoming the second Democrat to enter the mayoral race.

As the June 3 local elections draw near, these book events are emerging as prime opportunities for candidates to engage with potential voters.

Earlier, on June 8, Seongdong District Mayor Jeong Won-o held a book event to officially launch his Seoul mayoral campaign. On June 3, Democratic lawmaker Seo Young-kyo also hosted a book event at the National Assembly.

The Democratic Party’s current lineup of Seoul mayoral candidates includes lawmakers Park Hong-keun, Park Joo-min, Kim Young-bae, Seo Young-kyo, and Jeon Hyun-hee, alongside Mayor Jeong. From outside the party, former Military Human Rights Center Secretary Kim Hyung-nam has also thrown his hat into the ring.
