【Financial News, Ulsan Bureau – Reporter Choi Su-sang】 Kim Jong-hoon, the mayor of Ulsan’s Dong-gu district, has stepped down from his position to run for mayor in this year’s local elections.
During his farewell ceremony at the district office’s main auditorium, Kim stated, “The core purpose of politics and administration is to improve people’s lives and well-being.” He added, “Although I’m leaving my role as district mayor, I will continue to uphold my responsibilities and commitment to public service, regardless of where I am.”
Kim emphasized his efforts to create a synergy between the revitalized shipbuilding industry and the overall development of Dong-gu. “We’ve worked to establish a framework where the renewed vigor in shipbuilding translates into progress for our entire district, benefiting our residents, industries, job market, and local businesses,” he said. Kim expressed his hope that the city would continue to evolve as a place where government, citizens, and businesses thrive together.

Kim is scheduled to register as a preliminary candidate for the Ulsan mayoral election with the Ulsan Election Commission on February 11.
