Caffeine content varied widely, ranging from 45 mg to 172 mg per cup \u2014 nearly a fourfold difference between products.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"8\">Notably, Starbucks\u2019 Classic Milk Tea and Twosome Place\u2019s Royal Milk Tea had more caffeine per cup than a typical Americano (132 mg). Those amounts equal roughly 11%\u201343% of an adult\u2019s recommended daily limit (400 mg). Pregnant people who drink two cups could approach or exceed the pregnancy guideline of 300 mg per day, so extra caution is advised.<\/p>\n<div>\n<figure class=\"photo-layout\" image photo_108431 float-center data-idxno=\"108431\" data-type=\"photo\"><img alt=\"src=contents\/crawler-dev\/image\/2026\/05\/CP-2023-0436\/image-52bcfdb6-7c44-478f-a502-1d6e05dcef52.png\"><figcaption>\n   Caffeine test results by product (per cup) \/ Korea Consumer Agency<br \/>\n  <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"9\">The tests also flagged high sugar and fat levels. Sugar per cup accounted for 26%\u201355% of the daily reference value (100 g). Ediya Coffee\u2019s Matcha Latte topped the list with 55 g of sugar, while Starbucks\u2019 Jeju Matcha Latte had the least at 26 g. Saturated fat ranged from 33% to 79% of the daily reference \u2014 meaning drinking multiple cups could push you past recommended limits.<\/p>\n<p>The Consumer Agency recommended that Mega MGC Coffee, Paik\u2019s Coffee (Baekdabang), and Compose Coffee \u2014 which didn\u2019t offer sugar-adjustment options \u2014 voluntarily add customization. Compose Coffee said it has already added that option, and Paik\u2019s Coffee plans to let customers adjust syrup amounts soon.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"11\">On quality control, the agency pointed out inconsistent serving sizes. The same product from the same brand showed volume differences ranging from 36 mL to 119 mL, suggesting cafes need tighter controls to deliver consistent taste and portions.<\/p>\n<p>All products cleared safety tests: no pesticide residues or metallic foreign matter were detected. Prices ranged from 3,500 KRW to 6,100 KRW per cup (approximately $2.63\u2013$4.58) \u2014 a difference of up to 1.7 times.
