Recently on the social platform X, a user wrote, \u201cI come to Seoul once every one to two months to get skin treatments in Gangnam,\u201d and the post started circulating.<\/p>\n
He admitted Seoul didn\u2019t wow him at first. \u201cIt wasn\u2019t as grand as Beijing, not as polished as Shanghai, and didn\u2019t feel like the high-tech Shenzhen,\u201d he wrote. \u201cSome areas looked ordinary and a bit worn\u2014like third- or fourth-tier county towns in China.\u201d<\/p>\n
But after more visits, he began noticing Seoul\u2019s quieter charms.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople you meet on the street look tidy, fresh, and well put together,\u201d he said. \u201cIt feels like everyone pays attention to personal hygiene and appearance.\u201d<\/p>\n
He also praised the city\u2019s public spaces. \u201cPublic restrooms are very clean everywhere, and even the subway air feels fresh,\u201d he wrote. \u201cThoughtfulness for people with disabilities shows up in small details across facilities, and the city is very pet- and animal-friendly.\u201d<\/p>\n
He commented on public-transport etiquette as well. \u201cThere are many seats reserved for the elderly, disabled, and pregnant women, and people avoid sitting in the red seats even when standing,\u201d he observed. \u201cEverything feels maintained with dignity.\u201d<\/p>\n
He highlighted Seoul\u2019s neighborhood life and convenience. \u201cThe alleys branch out like capillaries\u2014clean and lined with handy convenience stores and cozy caf\u00e9s,\u201d he said. \u201cNo matter where you live, you can go downstairs and find small, delicious restaurants everywhere. Even ordinary eateries feel clean and warm.\u201d<\/p>\n
On prices, he said they\u2019re \u201cnot as burdensome as I expected,\u201d noting that a Venti-sized iced Americano at Starbucks is about 27 yuan (approximately 5,000 KRW, about $3.75).<\/p>\n
\u201cSome people measure a city\u2019s development by infrastructure and skyscrapers, but that\u2019s not how I see it,\u201d he concluded. \u201cOrder, cleanliness, consideration, and convenience matter more to me.\u201d<\/p>\n
The post drew around 200 comments. Some Chinese netizens agreed: \u201cTrue.
