With NVIDIA\u2019s GPUs and AI infrastructure likely to serve as core components for defense systems, observers will watch whether the meeting yields concrete agreements on defense AI, physical AI and AI infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>On June 1, Naver Cloud announced the launch of a dedicated Defense AX (AI Transformation) task force (TF).<\/p>\n<p>This is Naver\u2019s first AI organization devoted exclusively to defense. Naver Cloud CEO Kim Yu-won will lead the Defense AX TF.<\/p>\n<p>A distinguishing feature of the Defense AX TF is the deployment of Field Deployment Engineers (FDEs) to design and implement tailored AI solutions directly in operational settings. FDEs support on-site AI system deployment and operations\u2014a model Palantir used as it expanded work with U.S. defense and intelligence customers. The TF will operate as a cross-functional unit combining AI model development, business development and other related teams.<\/p>\n<p>Naver plans to deliver defense-focused AI solutions built on its foundation models, cloud infrastructure and sovereign AI capabilities. It also intends to apply omnimodal AI\u2014systems that fuse text, image and voice data to reason and generate outputs\u2014to military applications.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Sung Nak-ho, head of hyperscale AI technology at Naver Cloud, said at Naver Cloud\u2019s Public AX Strategy Seminar in Sejong in April, \u201cNaver Cloud is the only domestic company with omnimodal AI technology that can combine text, image and voice data to reason and generate outputs.\u201d He added the company will concentrate its capabilities on analyzing complex battlefield situations and supporting military strategic decision-making.<\/p>\n<p>Industry observers say the TF\u2019s creation reflects Naver\u2019s strategic effort to secure technological autonomy and data sovereignty in the defense sector. Lee has actively backed the initiative. He will meet Jensen Huang when Huang visits South Korea after attending NVIDIA\u2019s annual AI event in Taiwan on June 5. The industry is watching whether their meeting will help crystallize Naver\u2019s strategies for defense AI, physical AI and AI infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>Lee and Huang have met several times in recent years in Korea and Taiwan to discuss AI collaboration. In October they agreed to jointly develop a physical AI platform. Last month, Jensen Huang\u2019s eldest daughter, Madison Huang, senior director at NVIDIA, visited Naver\u2019s 1784 building to discuss technical and business cooperation in depth.<\/p>\n<p>During Huang\u2019s October visit\u2014dubbed the \u201cfirst Kanbu meeting\u201d\u2014Naver received 60,000 GPUs, 10,000 more than the 50,000 allocations to Samsung Electronics, SK and Hyundai Motor Group.<\/p>\n<p>Naver owns the large language model HyperClova X, cloud infrastructure, digital-twin and robotics technologies. Analysts say combining those assets with NVIDIA\u2019s GPUs and industrial AI platform could expand cooperation beyond sovereign AI into physical AI and defense applications.<\/p>\n<p>By Park
