\n <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n Masoud Pezeshkian, Iran\u2019s president, reportedly submitted his resignation to the Supreme Leader\u2019s office.<\/p>\n
On the 31st (local time), Iran International, citing unnamed sources, reported that President Pezeshkian filed an official resignation with the Supreme Leader\u2019s office. Fox News also cited the report. Neither the Iranian government nor the Supreme Leader\u2019s office has officially confirmed it.<\/p>\n
According to the report, Pezeshkian said in his resignation that he and his administration had been excluded from Iran\u2019s key decision-making. He said hard-liners within the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) filled the resulting power vacuum and seized control of core state matters.<\/p>\n
Pezeshkian told officials he could not operate the government normally under those conditions and could not carry out the legal responsibilities of the presidency. For that reason, he requested to resign immediately.<\/p>\n
Iran International said it is unclear whether the Supreme Leader\u2019s camp will accept Pezeshkian\u2019s resignation. If accepted, the resignation could affect Iran\u2019s foreign negotiations and wartime decision-making structures.<\/p>\n
The report comes amid ongoing U.S.\u2013Iran negotiations. On the same day, U.S. President Donald Trump told a Fox News program hosted by Lara Trump that Iran\u2019s negotiators were \u201cvery tough\u201d and that \u201cthe United States is approaching carefully to reach a broader agreement.\u201d<\/p>\n
