The gathering will give fans early access to Disney storytelling, creativity and innovation.Disney plans to bring together fans from across the Asia-Pacific region and around the world alongside creators and stars who work on Hollywood and global projects. Through iconic characters, immersive experiences and fan-centered programming, the company says the event aims to forge a shared community.The move expands Disney\u2019s large-scale D23 fan events, which began in 2009. The name D23 combines the \u201cD\u201d that stands for Disney and 1923, the year Walt Disney opened his first studio. Over time, D23: The Disney Global Fan Event has become the company\u2019s marquee fan showcase, known for major content announcements, live performances and limited-edition merchandise. Fans often use the event to preview upcoming projects and to explore the Disney universe through hands-on programming.\u201cAsia-Pacific fans have shown strong interest, and this decision reflects Disney\u2019s commitment to go where its audiences are,\u201d said Asad Ayaz, Disney\u2019s chief marketing and brand officer. \u201cD23 Asia will be an opportunity for fans to celebrate the bonds they\u2019ve formed around Disney content and to get early looks at works yet to be released.\u201dCarol Choi, head of integrated marketing and original content strategy for Disney APAC, said the region\u2019s fan base is expanding rapidly. She described the Singapore event as a continuation of Disney\u2019s efforts to deliver new kinds of experiences to diverse audiences, adding that attendees will see exclusive previews of APAC original content coming to Disney+ and hear behind-the-scenes stories from creators.D23 Asia builds on the tradition of Disney\u2019s largest fan event, which began in Anaheim, California, and follows the company\u2019s recent global expansion with events such as D23 Brazil \u2014 The Disney Experience.
