The victory drew extra attention because it came soon after the members completed their mandatory military service and returned to performing together as a full group.<\/p>\n<p>BTS also won Song of the Summer for their new single \u201cSWIM,\u201d finishing the night with two awards.<\/p>\n<p>After the announcement, leader RM said, &#8220;After completing our military service, receiving such a major award again feels especially meaningful. We&#8217;re so grateful that this win came from fans&#8217; votes.&#8221; J-Hope thanked the global ARMY for standing with them for 13 years, and Jimin added, &#8220;We sincerely thank the fans who always support and love us.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The American Music Awards, along with the Grammy Awards and the Billboard Music Awards, are considered among the three major U.S. popular-music ceremonies.
