On May 27 (local time), Reuters reported that several tankers carrying roughly 4 million barrels of Iranian crude transited the strait on May 24. Satellite-analysis site TankerTrackers.com recorded the same movements.<\/p>\n
Not all attempts were successful. In recent days six tankers turned back to Iranian ports; together they were carrying an estimated 10.5 million barrels of oil.<\/p>\n
Military tensions around the strait remain elevated. Iran moved to assert control of the waterway on Feb. 28, immediately after the outbreak of war, and the U.S. began enforcing a blockade on May 13.
