On May 19 (local time), Fox News and other outlets reported that Sebastian Gorka, a former deputy assistant on the White House National Security Council, said the letter exists on the “Pod Force One” podcast.<\/p>\n
Asked about the risk of hostile actors targeting Trump while he travels overseas, Gorka said the president had placed a contingency letter for Vice President J.D. Vance inside the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office.<\/p>\n
The Resolute Desk is the symbolic desk used by the U.S. president.<\/p>\n
In response to Gorka’s remarks, a White House spokesperson pointed to comments Trump made in a January interview with NewsNation.<\/p>\n
