[Reporter] Marathon negotiations between Samsung Electronics and its labor union continued, but the parties remained deadlocked over how much of the bonus pool should go to loss-making divisions. The union insisted that 70% of the bonus fund be shared companywide, with the remaining 30% distributed to divisions based on performance. Management argued the demand contradicted merit-based pay principles, saying rewards should follow performance. The union said it accepted the Central Labor Relations Commission\u2019s mediation proposal, but management rejected it, and the union expressed regret. Management pushed back, warning that acceding to what it called excessive demands would undermine core management principles. Earlier, the union announced it would begin a strike tomorrow as planned, making a walkout seem likely. After both sides resumed talks, attention shifted back to the possibility of a dramatic settlement. With both management and the union saying they will keep working toward a resolution, all eyes are on whether Labor Minister Kim Young-hoon can secure an agreement through direct mediation.
