\n <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n[Digital Today AI Reporter] Spotify has launched a podcast verification badge system aimed at combating AI-driven audio theft. <\/p>\n
On May 19, tech outlet Engadget reported that Spotify will grant verified channels a \\”Verified by Spotify\\” badge. <\/p>\n
The company says it will remove deceptive audio that impersonates others from the platform. The new verification mechanism places a pale green check mark icon on channel pages and in search results so listeners can quickly identify authentic shows. Accounts that use AI voice\u2011cloning to replicate established creators without permission will be removed as soon as they are detected.<\/p>\n
To weed out impostor accounts, Spotify has tightened its vetting process. Beyond basic documentation, the company now evaluates qualitative aspects of shows and closely monitors listener behavior, since fake AI audio channels often manipulate listening metrics with bot-driven fake accounts. <\/p>\n
Accordingly, Spotify will award verification primarily to channels that demonstrate sustained listening activity and genuine engagement. The system is effective immediately, but because the platform must review more than 7 million podcasts, completing the process could take several months.<\/p>\n
This is not Spotify\u2019s first move to curb the spread of dubious tech content. The company recently rolled out the same green check mark to verified artists on its music streaming service.
