\n <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n[DigitalToday AI Reporter] Spotify is introducing a new \\”Verified by Spotify\\” badge intended to strengthen trust and help listeners distinguish AI-generated content from work by real artists.<\/p>\n
On May 1, IT outlet IT Media reported that Spotify unveiled the Verified by Spotify badge to indicate when an artist profile meets the platform\u2019s verification standards.<\/p>\n
The badge will appear as a pale green check mark beside an artist\u2019s name on profile pages and in search results. Spotify says the marker will make it easier for listeners to tell whether the music they\u2019re hearing comes from a real, human artist.<\/p>\n
Qualifying for the badge requires more than uploading tracks. Spotify will prioritize sustained engagement\u2014listeners actively searching for and streaming an artist over time\u2014as a key signal. The company will also look for evidence of real-world activity outside the platform, such as concert dates, merchandise sales and linked social accounts, along with compliance with Spotify\u2019s policies. Together, these checks are meant to weed out accounts with unclear provenance.<\/p>\n
Crucially, profiles that represent AI-generated content or AI personas will be excluded from verification. Spotify plans to combine algorithmic analysis with expert review to improve accuracy. In the initial phase, the company expects to verify more than 99 percent of the artists users most frequently search for; most of those artists are independent.<\/p>\n
Spotify says it will continue verifying millions of profiles and roll out badges to qualified artists in phases. The company will also add a detailed information section to every artist profile \u2014 verified or not \u2014 with activity histories and tour information.
