On May 9, the Jeonbuk branch of the Democratic Party of Korea released additional results from the third round of primaries for the 9th nationwide local elections, and district-level general-election lineups are beginning to take shape.<\/p>\n

The announcement covered primary outcomes for selected district council races in Jeonju, Gunsan, Iksan, Jeongeup and Gimje. The Jeonbuk branch\u2019s election committee conducted both party-member and public-participation primaries in each district, then finalized and published its candidate recommendations.<\/p>\n

According to the published results, in Jeonju\u2019s \u25b2Da district the party nominated Kim Jeong-myeong, Lee Nam-sook and Choi Joo-man in that order. In the \u25b2Ma district, Jin Ye-chan, Kim Dong-hyun and Shim Seong-ok were recommended, while in the \u25b2Ba district Jeon Yun-mi, Kim Seong-gyu and Jo Hun secured the top three slots.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere in Jeonju, the \u25b2A district nominated Kim Yun-soo and Choi Seo-yeon. The \u25b2Ja district recommended Eun Young-pyo, Choi Ji-eun and Kim Jae-beom. In the \u25b2Cha district the committee backed Shin Dong-i and On Hye-jung; the \u25b2Ka district selected Kim In-cheol, Park Yoon-jung and Choi Myung-gwon; and the \u25b2Ta district named Shin In-chul and Shin Yoo-jung as its recommended candidates.<\/p>\n

In Gunsan, candidates who advanced included Seo Dong-soo and Lim Dong-jun in the \u25b2Ga district; Seo Eun-sik, Jo Hyun-soo and Seol Kyung-min in the \u25b2Na district; and Choi Kyung-ae and Lee Dong-hyun in the \u25b2Da district. The \u25b2Ba district advanced Ji Hae-chun and Lee Young-mi; the \u25b2Sa district forwarded Kim Hyo-ju, Oh Seung-chul and Yoon Shin-ae; and the \u25b2A district included Kim Kwan-woo, Kim Kyung-sik and Jang Byung-hoon on the final list.<\/p>\n

In Iksan, the committee selected Park Jong-dae and Kang Kyung-sook in the \u25b2Da district; Han Chang-hoon and Park Jong-chul in the \u25b2Ra district; Jung Won-sang and Jeon Se-seong in the \u25b2Ma district; and Kim Seon-nam, Jung Young-mi and Lee Chung-yeol in the \u25b2Ba district. The \u25b2A district recommended Kim Soon-deok and So Gil-young, while the \u25b2Ja district backed Park Cheol-won, Choi Jae-hyeon and Hwang Du-gwan.<\/p>\n

In Jeongeup, the \u25b2Ga district nominated Oh Myung-je and Ko Seong-hwan; the \u25b2Na district chose Kim Kyung-seop and Kim Young-tae; the \u25b2Da district named Hwang Hye-sook and Han Sun-mi; the \u25b2Ra district put forward Choi Kang-sul and Choi Jae-gi; and the \u25b2Ma district advanced Lee Nam-hee, Kim Yong-hoon and Kim Jeong-hoon. The \u25b2Ba district recommended Seo Hyang-kyung and Park Il, while the \u25b2Sa district backed Jeong Sang-seop and Kim Young-hyun.<\/p>\n

Gimje also finalized candidate slates in several districts. The \u25b2Ga district will field Lee Jeong-ja, Joo Sang-hyun and Namgung Yoon; the \u25b2Na district selected Choi Bo-seon, Oh Seung-kyung and Kim Young-ja; the \u25b2Da district named Jang Min-woo, Oh Sang-min and Kim Min-wan; and the \u25b2Ra district chose Kim Jin-soo, Kim Seung-il and Moon Soon-ja as the party\u2019s recommended candidates.<\/p>\n

Local political observers interpret the third-round primary results as a signal that the local-election contest is extending down to the district-council level. They note that some multi-candidate districts could still be reshaped by late developments\u2014such as independent candidacies or last-minute alliances. As contests in Jeonbuk fragment into battles over organizational strength and local bases, analysts expect the general-election phase to intensify around everyday local issues and voter sentiment on the ground.<\/p>\n

Separately, the Jeonbuk branch of the Democratic Party said candidates who object to the primary results may request a review from the party\u2019s candidate-reconsideration committee within 24 hours of the announcement.
