Do Seong-hoon, candidate for Incheon’s superintendent of education, outlined a vision and strategy for the city’s schools and pledged to create an environment that allows each student to realize their full potential.<\/p>\n

He said the plan reorients education for the AI era and lays the groundwork for student-led learning, and he appealed for voters’ support.<\/p>\n

On May 9, Do opened his campaign office and formally launched his bid, saying he will usher in an era of student success through his Read\u2011Walk\u2011Write AI (\uc77d\uac77\uc4f0AI) initiative.<\/p>\n

Do pledged to lead a major transformation of Incheon education while keeping it human-centered in the AI era.<\/p>\n

At the opening, he said, \\”Today isn’t merely the opening of a campaign office; it’s the start of a new chapter for Incheon education. I will complete a major transformation of Incheon education that nurtures every child’s potential.\\”<\/p>\n

He added, \\”Incheon was the first Korean city to open its doors to the world. Openness, diversity, and creativity are the city’s greatest assets for the future of education.\\”<\/p>\n

On education in the AI era, Do said, \\”As technology advances, the ability to ask questions and exercise judgment becomes more important. Education should not merely follow technology; it should cultivate people who can proactively use AI.\\”<\/p>\n

To achieve that, he proposed ‘Read\u2011Walk\u2011Write AI’ (\uc77d\uac77\uc4f0AI) as the core vision of Incheon-style future education.<\/p>\n

‘Read\u2011Walk\u2011Write AI’ combines reading, walking and writing with AI literacy, putting human reasoning and creativity at its center.<\/p>\n

Do said, \\”Under a ‘Human\u2013AI\u2013Human’ principle, humans will pose the questions first, use AI to analyze information, and then complete the learning process through human reflection and personal expression.\\”<\/p>\n

He also unveiled eight pledges to realize an era of student success.<\/p>\n

The main pledges include \u25b2 strengthening basic education grounded in the Read\u2011Walk\u2011Write model \u25b2 establishing regional AI convergence education centers \u25b2 expanding education in ecology, peace and democratic citizenship \u25b2 operating Global Learning Schools \u25b2 expanding tailored programs in AI, the arts and physical education \u25b2 strengthening integrated support for student health and safety \u25b2 widening inclusive education and educational welfare \u25b2 and closing the education gap between new towns and older urban centers.<\/p>\n

He said he will designate ages 5 to 9 as a critical period for reading to safeguard the golden window for literacy development and will strengthen self-directed learning so students can learn and grow independently.<\/p>\n

Do emphasized, \\”Education must never be treated as an experiment. Children’s time will not wait.\\”<\/p>\n

He added, \\”After eight years of implementing Read\u2011Walk\u2011Write and student-centered practices, those approaches have taken root in classrooms. What is needed now is completion, not interruption. My run for a third term is not a bid for power but a pledge to responsibly finish the work of strengthening Incheon education.\\”<\/p>\n

Finally, he said, \\”Schools should be places where children’s dreams take root, not arenas for ideological battles. I will prove the future of Incheon education through action and measurable results, not rhetoric.\\”<\/p>\n

Do plans to begin a full-scale campaign while continuing to shape policy based on input from citizens and educators.<\/p>\n
