\n <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n Kim Tae-heum, the People Power Party\u2019s preliminary candidate for governor of Chungcheongnam-do, chose Cheonan as his first official stop after declaring his bid for re-election, formally launching his campaign.<\/p>\n
Immediately after the announcement, he traveled to Cheonan \u2014 the province\u2019s largest city \u2014 to focus on everyday livelihoods, veterans\u2019 issues and other local concerns, reinforcing his image as a hands-on, on-the-ground candidate.<\/p>\n
On the morning of the 8th, Kim held a press conference at the Chungnam provincial government press center, formally announcing his run for a second term. \u201cIf we laid the foundation for a \u2018Strong Chungnam\u2019 over the past four years, now it is time to complete a \u2018Great Chungnam\u2019 together with residents,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He then went directly to Cheonan and attended a Parents\u2019 Day ceremony at Baekseok Culture University, where he greeted elderly attendees and expressed his gratitude.<\/p>\n
At the event he said, \u201cToday\u2019s Korea was built by our elders,\u201d adding, \u201cI will further strengthen Chungnam-style basic welfare so the province can fully shoulder responsibility for seniors\u2019 well\u2011being throughout their retirement.\u201d<\/p>\n
In the afternoon, he visited the Cheonan Veterans Hall and held talks with representatives of independence patriots\u2019 groups and veterans\u2019 organizations.<\/p>\n
Kim said, \u201cWhenever the nation has been shaken, the Chungcheong region has stood firm. That spirit is Chungnam\u2019s pride.\u201d He pledged to \u201cenhance recognition and support so that the families of those who served the country can take pride in their sacrifice.\u201d<\/p>\n
That day he also met with local reporters in the Cheonan City Hall press room. He outlined specific proposals for northern Chungnam, including a Cheonan\u2013Asan dome arena and a revamp of Cheonan\u2019s public transit system, presenting a broader blueprint for regional development.<\/p>\n
He reiterated his determination to develop the Cheonan\u2013Asan area into a national center for future industries and culture, saying, \u201cI will strengthen Chungnam\u2019s growth engine and transform it into a key hub that drives South Korea\u2019s economy.\u201d<\/p>\n
