The shop\u2019s unconventional ordering system\u2014serving portions based on how much you pay\u2014caught their attention. When someone called it the naengmyeon of tteokbokki, Jeon couldn\u2019t help but wonder what it would taste like.<\/p>\n<p>When the soupy tteokbokki arrived with the rice cakes already sliced, both men stared in fascination. The restaurant uses scissors and spoons instead of chopsticks or forks. Sampling it for the first time, Jeon blurted out, &#8220;What is this?&#8221; clearly puzzled.<\/p>\n<p>He shot his dining partner a questioning look. After Jeon dismissed it as flavorless, Gwak took a bite and looked just as bewildered. &#8220;It\u2019s red but kind of bland, right?&#8221; Jeon said, then, surprised to see a student happily eating
