On April 18, during a Disabled Persons’ Day event at Central Park, Gwacheon City conducted a public survey to gauge awareness of and support for installing a barrier-free ramp at the Memorial Tower.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The city said on the 21st that the survey was intended to collect residents’ input on creating an environment where people with disabilities and older adults can visit the Memorial Tower without barriers, and to reflect that input in future project planning.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Central Park Memorial Tower, built in June 1990, is currently accessible only by stairs, which makes access difficult for wheelchair users and older residents. Gwacheon City is evaluating ramp installation options and conducted the survey to develop a practical plan based on public feedback.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The survey found broad support for installing a ramp. Respondents favored placing the ramp to the right of the Memorial Tower, a preference likely driven by lower foot traffic on that side and the reduced potential for conflicts with pedestrian flow.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Gwacheon City plans to use the survey results to draft concrete plans for the Memorial Tower ramp and to review how to advance the project. <\/p>\n

At the event, the city also operated an accessible-design booth where visitors tried moving in wheelchairs and gained firsthand insight into the importance of barrier-free environments. <\/p>\n
