Mokpo, on South Korea\u2019s southwestern coast, is getting a welcome spring tourism lift as groups arrive by charter train, bringing fresh energy to the local travel scene.<\/p>\n

According to Mokpo City, about 500 members of the Daejeon MG Eutteum Saemaeul Credit Union boarded a charter train from Daejeon and traveled to Mokpo for a spring outing on the weekend of April 18.<\/p>\n

The group visited top spots\u2014Yudalsan Mountain, the Modern History and Culture Street, and Gatbawi Cultural Town\u2014soaking up Mokpo\u2019s history and culture while enjoying a variety of activities.<\/p>\n

They also sampled Mokpo\u2019s signature foods and shopped at the main seafood market, buying fresh seasonal catches and giving a welcome boost to local businesses and the broader regional economy.<\/p>\n

To ensure a comfortable visit, Mokpo City emphasized friendly service, fair prices, and cleanliness, and offered travel incentives to cover 12 large buses used by the groups.<\/p>\n

Twelve cultural tourism interpreters from Mokpo accompanied the travelers, providing warm, professional guidance and making sure visitors felt well looked after.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe arrival of a roughly 500-person group by charter train has given a major boost to our local tourism industry,\u201d said Park In-ji, head of Mokpo\u2019s tourism division. \u201cWe\u2019ll keep focusing on shaping Mokpo into an attractive city where marine tourism and modern historical culture coexist.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cWe\u2019ll continue developing distinctive tourism products and stepping up marketing so Mokpo becomes a destination where visitors stay longer and return.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe also plan to expand rail-linked tour packages and strengthen visitor-tailored services to draw even more tourists to Mokpo,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
