NAIL centers on the object of a \u201cnail,\u201d which Yves uses to explore and document her personal sensibility. She zeroes in on emotional moments that cross borders\u2014race, gender and language\u2014and captures, through music, how disparate tastes can unexpectedly align.<\/p>\n
The title track, \u201cNAIL (feat. Lolo Zoua\u00ef),\u201d leans on alternative hip-hop textures and a gritty production, using metaphor to sing about a presence that lingers and keeps resurfacing.<\/p>\n
Yves wrote the lyrics herself, lending the song a sense of authenticity. Guest artist Lolo Zoua\u00ef contributes a contrasting flow and tone that shifts the track\u2019s texture alongside Yves\u2019s compelling vocal performance.<\/p>\n
The music video released with the single presents Yves expressing a range of sensations. As she gradually embraces new feelings within unfamiliar spaces, she pulls listeners deeper into the record\u2019s emotional landscape.<\/p>\n
The five-track EP also includes \u201cIt,\u201d Yves\u2019s personal take on the concept of death; \u201cHALO,\u201d which uses a repeating, hallucinatory rhythm to chart a deeper descent into sensation; \u201cBreak it (feat.Lexie Liu),\u201d where condensed energy erupts along the fractures of feeling; and \u201cbirth,\u201d which treats the idea of birth through classical instrumentation. Notably, the closing track \u201cbirth\u201d flows naturally into the opening track \u201cIt,\u201d giving the EP a deliberately circular structure.<\/p>\n
Yves contributed lyrics to the title track \u201cNAIL (feat.
