[TV Daily reporter Kim Jin-seok] The film ‘The Man Who Lives With the King’ has passed 16 million admissions.<\/p>\n

On the 5th, distributor Showbox announced via its official social channels that the cumulative audience for The Man Who Lives With the King (directed by Jang Hang-jun, hereafter \\”Wangsanam\\”) has topped 16 million.<\/p>\n

The milestone came on the film’s 61st day in release, placing it third on the all-time Korean box office list behind The Admiral: Roaring Currents (17.61 million) and Extreme Job (16.26 million).<\/p>\n

It needs roughly 260,000 more admissions to overtake Extreme Job for second place. Notably, Wangsanam has been drawing about 100,000 weekend viewers per day, suggesting another record could be within reach.<\/p>\n

Its cumulative box office revenue has already surpassed those of The Admiral and Extreme Job, making it the highest-grossing Korean film in history. As of the 23rd of last month, the total stood at 1,543\uc5b5\uc6d0 (154.3 billion KRW, approximately $115.7 million), up from 1,425\uc5b5\uc6d0 (142.5 billion KRW, approximately $106.9 million) the month before. Wangsanam is rewriting the record books in both attendance and revenue.<\/p>\n

Set in 1457 at Cheongryeongpo, the film follows a village head who volunteers for exile to revive his community and a young, deposed king who has been banished from the throne.<\/p>\n
