Over the footage, the caption read, \u201cTop e-sports players became developers (engineers), and those who stood center stage became mothers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Users on social media criticized the caption, saying it implied men achieve professional success while women\u2019s trajectories end in childbirth and childcare, reinforcing entrenched gender-role stereotypes.<\/p>\n<p>Netizens posted comments such as, \u201cI can\u2019t believe a top university made a video like this,\u201d \u201cDo you become a mother the moment you graduate from Shanghai Jiao Tong?\u201d and \u201cIs the university handing out birth permits instead of diplomas?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A female student who appeared in the video pushed back, saying she had filmed it believing it was a club-activity piece. \u201cIf male students go on to succeed professionally, why must female students\u2014no matter how brilliant in college\u2014ultimately become mothers?\u201d she asked.<\/p>\n<p>As criticism mounted,
