On the same day, Joo filed an injunction at the Seoul Southern District Court challenging his exclusion from the Daegu mayoral race.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Seoul Southern District Court held a hearing on the 27th for the injunction Joo Ho-young filed to challenge the People Power Party\u2019s decision to exclude him from the Daegu mayoral primary.<\/p>\n<p>In the afternoon, Civil Division 51 of the Seoul Southern District Court, presided over by Senior Judge Kwon Seong-su, conducted the hearing on Joo\u2019s request to suspend the effect of the party\u2019s cutoff decision.<\/p>\n<p>Joo\u2019s legal team argued the party\u2019s decision suffered both procedural and substantive defects. They told the court the party offered an implausible rationale, saying it removed him because he was &#8220;too distinguished&#8221; and should be assigned to more important work.<\/p>\n<p>They added that the cutoff was an undemocratic, arbitrary act unworthy of a major opposition party.<\/p>\n<p>The People Power Party defended its decision, saying it excluded Joo because, as the party\u2019s longest-serving six-term lawmaker, he is better suited to fill larger roles the party requires.<\/p>\n<p>The party also said the cutoff fell within its organizational autonomy and was made without procedural or substantive flaws.<\/p>\n<p>After the hearing, Joo told reporters the party\u2019s defense was manufactured, arguing that the party\u2019s own explanations demonstrate the cutoff lacked any legitimate basis.<\/p>\n<p>The court ordered both sides to submit filings by the 31st and is expected to issue a decision on the injunction next
