The fallout from the Middle East crisis has left Dubai \u2014 once a busy global transfer hub \u2014 facing empty airplane cabins. Security concerns have prompted travelers to cancel or postpone trips.<\/p>\n
On the 24th (local time), Vietnamese outlet Z News, citing the Times of India, reported that many Emirates flights from the U.S. and Europe to Dubai were operating with almost no passengers.<\/p>\n

The situation worsened as countries closed or restricted their airspace to avoid missile and drone threats. Flight cancellations and reroutes have disrupted regional air networks.<\/p>\n
Although some services have gradually returned, the recovery is uneven. Reuters reports Emirates is trying to restore roughly 75% of its pre-conflict capacity, while other carriers remain well below that level.<\/p>\n
Etihad and Air Arabia are operating at about 50% of pre-conflict levels, Flydubai at roughly 33%, and Qatar Airways at about 20%.<\/p>\n
Falling travel demand and rising costs are squeezing airlines. Longer, safer detours have increased flight times, and higher jet fuel prices have added to the pressure.<\/p>\n
The region\u2019s tourism industry has also taken a hit. The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) estimates international tourist spending in the region fell by about $600 million a day (approximately 800 billion KRW a day), totaling more than $12 billion (approximately 16 trillion KRW) over 20 days.<\/p>\n
Traveler confidence has been shaken. At the peak of tensions, some affluent travelers paid up to $250,000 (approximately 333.3 million KRW) to charter private jets out of Dubai.<\/p>\n
Hotels were hit directly: more than 80,000 reservations were canceled in a single week, and demand stayed weak even after luxury properties offered discounts.<\/p>\n
The UAE government stepped in. It allowed foreigners who left to re-enter without having to reissue visas and waived fines for returns through the 31st of this month.<\/p>\n
The move is seen as an emergency measure to prevent the exodus of foreign professionals and capital that occurred during February\u2019s unrest. Given the UAE\u2019s reliance on international talent, authorities are emphasizing stability and encouraging returns.<\/p>\n
Contrary to hopes for a quick rebound, Dubai\u2019s tourism sector remains turbulent. Lighthouse Intel CorporationRegions data show Dubai hotel occupancy plunged from 90% to 16% as of the 17th.<\/p>\n
Major carriers including British Airways, Air France and KLM have suspended flights to Dubai through the end of March, and some have extended suspensions into June. <\/p>\n
